Start thinking about what sort of outdoor painting you desire. When you have a general idea of what direction you want to go, we will have a very productive appointment.
- Snap pictures on your smart phone of anything you may want to emulate and save images of outside murals you find online.
- What theme do you want? If next to a swimming pool, maybe an ocean mural with palm trees would feel refreshing and look nice. If you love wine, how about a vineyard landscape or just some fun painted climbing grape vines.
- What sort of mural would look good on a fence or wall around a playground at a preschool? Kids sure do love bugs, flowers and things that fly.
- If for an elementary school, what sort of mural will compliment the exterior of your school? I have painted cement walls in playgrounds, outside signage to different areas of a school, a fitness trail and snake maze on an asphalt playground, school mascots, and inspirational quotes on walls.

What are some unusual places I’ve done custom painting? I learned about the necessity of wearing knee pads with these requests!
- Last year I got commissioned to paint pressed-concrete stones next to a pool. I painted each stone differently and the whole deck looked beautiful.
- Hand-painted stones also look good on smooth cement. I have a client who likes me to disguise water deposit stains and cracks with my paint. She has me back yearly to maintain the painted stones and keep it looking good.

- Do I ever paint for myself? Yes! I recently painted my own cement entryway to look like flagstone and LOVE it. (I’ll document how often it needs touch-ups both with and without sealer. So check in with me for my findings.)
